EXPLORING THE CASTLE OF NAFPAKTOS GREECE

In that castle town of Roumeli, Pelasgians, Ozoles Lokroi, Romans, Byzantines, Venetians, Ottomans left their footsteps. In Nafpaktos castle, the "Triple Crown of Lepanto", as it was called by Venetians, the only one in Europe with five defensive zones, the machine of time has turned me back in the past. The tour begins next  to the port, climbing the narrow paths. Every gate tells a story, every stone reminds a memory. Abandoned houses resting on the stonebuilt walls, the well-preserved Botsareika and Javelaiika mansions, turkish fountains to drink water, narrow paths next to the battlements, all those call me to listen to the civilizations that have passed and left their markings in this place. Arriving at Agios Ilias, on the top of the hill, I can gaze at Peloponnisos and at the miracle of Mechanics, the Rio-Antirion Bridge. This is where past meets today, History meets Technology, and dream the reality.
